A gift for my Scottish Grandma!
I had several people try this and LOVE it! It has great texture and flavor.

I made bars for my Grandma...it makes ALOT!

I have since found a shortbread pan, and the recipe was the same (I got 2 out of it), but I had to adjust the cooking time a bit. I baked it according to the instructions on my shortbread pan box. 325 degrees for 30 mins, then I did an additional 15-20...I would do 10, check it and then see if you think it should be another 5-10? I just pushed on it a little and saw it was a little soft in the middle still.

  • Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

  • Step 2

Cream butter and sugar with mixer. Add flour and mix with a wooden spoon. Use hands to thoroughly mix.

  • Step 3

Press into a jelly roll pan. Prick to bottom all over with a fork being sure the fork hits the bottom and the pricks are close together.

  • Step 4

ake for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to 300 and continue to bake for 40 minutes more. Wait 2 minutes then cut into finger size bars. Cool thoroughly in pan.

  • Step 5

I put the bars into a cellophane bag and tied it with a ribbon.
