My daughter's t-shirt had two holes just above the pockets -- rather than toss it- we revamped it by adding decorative buttons. (Sorry no before photos)

As you can see up close you can see the stitching but from far away you can't even tell!

After stitching up the holes we added the buttons. We even thought of doing this with patches...
