Hardware Earrings

  • Completed Project: Hardware Earrings Picture #1

Make use of those spare parts!

I love using things with an everyday function in my jewelry.

I also used round nose pliers and a jump ring closer tool to make these. They can be made by hand without tools though.

What a great idea, they look very modern art for just washers.

They are actually pretty lightweight. The heavier you go in parts though the more weight will be added. Hope that helps!

You could even paint them to give them color, or add glitter. I will be making these very soon!

You can definitely paint the washers if you want to. I used a cloth to clean them and it buffed them really shiny. I also have another pair I made with colored jummprings and earring hooks. :-) Thanks for the project comment!!

Oh! I made some just like this before. It was a handmade christmas gift to my friends. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2381/2109135487_7f0d50a4db.jpg

I actually made some of these out of bigger washers while I was gauging my ears (stretching the ear holes). Like she said, you can use larger hardware and make something really cool. I just looped the jewelers wire through my existing tubes because the french hooks don't fit through tubes. But you can make some rockin' jewelry for your gauged ears. You can paint them and wrap them with extra jewelers wire to make them super funky. This is a great project. Easy and cheap! Thanks!
