Beauty hanging from your fingers
DIY Body armor was featured recently and she had a link to the site that inspired her: http://www.armorjewelry.com
I went to the site, looked around, and found this beautiful ring: http://www.armorjewelry.com/shop/abee/
I decided to attempt this beautiful idea for cheaper.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon the perfect ring bases. Find these is probably the hardest part of this project. One could also find think ring band bases, and put larger jump rings around the base, and attach the chain to those.

Here's what I did:

  • How to make a chain ring. Hanging Chain Double Ring - Step 1
    Step 1

Start with your supplies. There aren't many.
    1. Quite a bit of chain.
    2. 2 TINY jewelry pliers.
    3. Ring bases (I was blessed enough to find ones with holes built in, but one could also put jump rings on the ring base for a similar effect.

    Step 2

Lay out your ring. I wanted mine to have two rings (you could do it with one too!) and to have a free finger in the middle. Then decide how you want to hang your chains. All the chains tangled up and fun? or one at a time, different lengths? The latter is what I chose.

  • How to make a chain ring. Hanging Chain Double Ring - Step 3
    Step 3

Use your tiny pliers to open the first chain link. Chains are essentially just a lot of tiny jump rings attached to each other. So use your pliers to open the first link!

Opening and closing the chain links is the hardest part of this project. They are very small. But don't dispair. Do it over a hard black surface to make things easier to see.

    Step 4

Once you've got the link open, Slide a ring hole (or a jump ring) into the open chain link. It's hard, but not impossible.

Once it's in, close the link with your pliers. The chain is now attached!

    Step 5

Now, decide how long you want that strand of chain to be, according to your plan/design idea from step 2. I wanted mine to be individual chains, each a different length, so it draped.
I would spread it out and measure them to the gap inbetween each chain was about the same.

    Step 6

Once you've decided the length the chain should be, open the appropriate chain link with your little pliars, remove it from your chain skein, and attach the other side to the other ring.

Repeat as desired! Once I had all 5, I was done, but you can easily add more chain, different types of chain, or even charms.

    Wear like a Model!
    Have fun!
