Costumes of Halloween Past...
 <  Image 1 of 4  >

I love costumes, ok, I think I like making them more than wearing them... but that's the life of a crafter I guess.

Here's a sampling of past costumes. Tonks from Harry Potter (as worn for a party and to the HP Book 7 Release)... the back of my Weird Sisters t-shirt...

A barmaid costume... the giant mug of beer is my purse (used a coffee container and clear plastic)...

... and my sis and I dressed as moaning myrtle and Hermione... a bit washed out in the pic, but you get the idea.

I love the barmaid. How did you make the shirt though? I'm having trouble making a shirt like that so I'd love any tips you've got:D

The shirt was done in 3 parts...

Part 1 - white shirt - I made the body of the shirt almost like a loose tube top, with extra material at the top front, i attached the sleeves and brought the huge neckline in to fit by running elastic through the whole hem of the neckline, same for the wrists in the sleeves.

Part 2 - Green bodice piece - i actually covered a corset i have w/ the material. You could probably use a vest as the base or as a rough pattern. Just a warning, if you use a corset get material that has a lot of stretch to it to cover the corset. I ened up having to do some patching at the back b/c I sewed the green material to my corset and it didn't stretch as much as the corset did once it was on.

Part 3 - Black "corset" - I cut two pannels of black material, sewed them together at the back and tied them up the front using leather chord w/ small wholes in the sides... i think i used a few safety pins or tack stitches to help keep it in place once it was on.

Hope this helps!
