Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.

Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

I made these and they are sooooooooooo yummy! I may have made them a little too big though because they took almost 15 minutes to bake instead of 10. Either way, I will definitly use this recipe from now on!

Do you use plain flour or self raising in this recipe?

I'm sooooo wanting to try these little suckers out! But...I noticed in reading your steps that you have items not given in your Ingredient List. Can you please respond with the amounts of Vanilla, Sugar (white & brown), and Salt? Thanks so much for the help! :o)
