Make a shiny trendy necklace from old vhs tape, drinking straws a bottle cap and ribbon
This is for Day 27 of 30 Days of Creativity for the theme "Extinct Media". As I have lots of old VHS tapes around the house I decided to craft a necklace using the magnetic tape inside the cassette.

The finished necklace looks much better in purpose because the shiny surfaces catches and refracts the light.

    Step 1

You need to access the tape in the cassette - you can pull it out or you can open up the case by unscrewing the screws on the 5 screws on the bottom (one on each corner and one in the middle) and taking it part.

Repeat with other straw. As I used a blue straw, I dabbed a bit of black nail polish on the inside edges of the straw so you wouldn't see the blue.

Use a large plastic bottle cap (I used the top off of a Powerade bottle) and dab a bit of glue in the center, then twist, dab a bit of glue and repeat, twisting the tape as you go continuing on the sides of the cap.

In order to be able to thread the ribbon through the cap you will need to make holes where the pink stars are at on this picture.

Thread the ribbon through through one straw, then the bottle cap and the other straw and tie in bow or know in the back.
