Step 1Gather your supplies. You'll need some knee high white socks, black elastic thread, glow-in-the-dark thread and some small star beads.

Step 2Sketch the design for your skyline around the top of the socks using an air erasable pen. You're basically just drawing rectangles of different heights, some with slanting or diamond roofs and some with masts. Remember the socks will stretch when you wear them, so you'll want to sketch the skyline a little smaller and thinner than you want.

Step 3When you're happy with the design, stitch around the outline using black elastic thread. Keep your stitches nice and tight, so that they sit flat on the socks and don't pucker. The thread will stretch when you put the socks on.

Step 4Colour the skyline around the buildings with a fabric marker.

Step 5Work your way around the socks. You can colour all the way to the top of the socks or stop midway up.

Step 6Leave the ink to dry and then thread a needle with elastic thread.

Step 7Stitch the star beads across the sky.

Step 8Finally, using glow-in-the-dark thread, stitch little windows on to the buildings while wearing the socks.

Step 9You're all done - go fight crime!
