Turn old glass soda bottles into sparkling champagne flutes

Step 1
To make these champagne flutes you'll need a Kinkajou bottle cutter and some glass soda bottles. Start by washing the bottles and removing any labels.
Step 2
Clamp the Kinkajou around the bottle, just below where the neck of the bottle straightens out into the main body of the bottle.
Step 3
Spin the blade of the bottle cutter around the bottle several times, scoring the glass to weaken it.
Step 4
Fill your sink with hot water and submerge the bottle. The run it under cold water. The heat will make the glass expand and contract, weakening it around the scored line.
Step 5
Eventually the bottle should break neatly along the scored line. Sand the top and bottom of the bottle well.
Step 6
Use pliers to cut off any rings from the bottle cap.
Step 7
Use an epoxy glue to attach the bottom of the bottle to the top, so that the top of the bottle becomes the stem for your champagne flute.
Step 8
Plan a design for your glasses with paper and pencil.
Step 9
Cut a stencil out of sticker paper.
Step 10
Stick the stencils to the front of the glasses.
Step 11
Paint over the stencil with Modge Podge.
Step 12
Sprinkle the design with glitter and leave to dry.
Step 13
Remove the sticker paper.
Step 14
Paint the stem of your glasses with Modge Podge.
Step 15
Sprinkle with glitter and leave to dry.
Step 16
Paint with a second coat of Modge Podge and glitter. Leave to dry and then wash the glasses well to remove any excess glitter.
Step 17
You're new champagne flutes are read to drink from. Cheers!
