Make your very own mohawked dia-de-los-muertos-celebrating glitter figurine necklace!
I've seen people attempt this DIY before (and don't it myself, too, with the SKELETON HEAD piece for earrings) but never with custom bodies or hairpieces. When the new minifigs came out, with the punk's mohawk and shirt and the ice skater's glam made up face, I knew I had to have a shot myself!

    Step 1

To push your headpin through your headpiece, you'll need to pierce it with the sharp safety pin first. If you want, heat it a little over a flame. To make sure you pierce in the right place, put the headpiece over the head and push the safety pin in through one of the three holes in the top of the figure's head enough to make an indent, to mark where you need to push all the way through.

Once the hole in your headpiece is big enough to push your headpin through, take your head and push the pin through the same tiny hole (on the top of the head) that you used to mark your place. This means that your headpiece and figure's head match up. The flat or ball top of the headpin will secure the head and headpiece.

Once your headpiece and mini head are locked in, slot the neck and body onto it like any normal mini figure.

Here's where you take your headpin and, using needlenosed pliers (or, if you don't have those to hand, some mini or regular sized nail clippers) make a wrapped loop, making sure it's the right sure for your project. If you're not sure how to make a wrapped loop, google has plenty of illustrated and video tutorials!

Now it's time for the next customisation step - adding the glam to those purple pants! Take your glitter and polish (you can see the brand I've used here) and paint the polish onto the fronts of the trousers before lightly sprinkling (not too much, you don't want to encrust it) with glitter. Depending on whether or not you'll want to move the legs, don't put the polish too far up the legs where they'll disappear into the joints of the legpiece.

And you're done! My cover image shows off the metallic shine on the 'ice skater' head that I got from those collectible mini figures. The purple pants were just from my LEGO collection and can be found anywhere, and the mohawk and skull vest torso were from the 'punk' collectible mini figure.
