I made it myself!

I made this for my friend Chaz for his birthday =) unfortunately it came out looking a bit zombie-ish, I was doing so well up to that point! Nevermind, I'm sure he'll love it anyway.

Oh and sorry, the cake recipe is one of Delia Smith's. It's in an old book I have. So give thanks to her =)

Recipe

  1. 1

Simple! Mix all the ingredients up to and including the 110g of softened butter in a bowl. All at the same time. Make sure to sift the flour to give it a good airing, and it's always better to whisk the eggs first to get some air into them.

  2. 2

Line a cake tin with baking paper. I always put it in one cake tin then cut it in half but you can put it in two to make it easier =)

  3. 3

After 30 minutes test with a knife. If it comes out clean it's cooked. Take it out and leave it in the tin for a few minutes before transferring onto a wire rack. Wait at least twenty minutes before cutting it in half if you're doing it that way.

  4. 4

Mix 6 ounces of icing sugar with 3 ounces of butter and some vanilla essence for enough buttercream to go in the middle.

When you've put the top on, use the other 3 ounces of icing sugar with a tiny bit of water. I used red and blue food colouring to make a purple background (well, it should be).

  5. 5

Spend AGES drawing out a Gir cartoon and using a paintbrush to colour it in. Some bits need extras, like the ears and the tail but if you're careful enough and think far enough ahead you should be fine. Just don't be silly like me and smudge the damn colours!
