  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Measure fabric to cover the journal/notebook face open, with at least 1/2 inch extra border all around it.

    TIP:
double check you have given it enough fabric to close! too tight, and it will not close. Leave an extra inch of fabric on one of the longer sides!

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

cut out fabric piece to size, move pages to one side, then glue gun all sides and carefully fold fabric over to stick.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

snip off excess fabric of the corners and stick down before cools. watch out! hot!!

once cool/dry, repeat for other side, flipping pages back over out of the way.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

one dry/cool, close notebook to make sure you left extra room. if it can't close, you can easily tear the fabric off and try again.

tuck in fabric on bind that might hang out with finger or pencil

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

to make a clasp, cut a piece of fabric about 3 inches long and 1 and 1/2 inches wide. fold in thirds lengthwise, and glue down.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

glue strip of fabric to back of notebook towards the outside edge in the middle.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

stick/sew one side of the velcro on the loose end and attach adjoining side to front of notebook.

(its easier to be more accurate if you stick the other side of the velcro on, and close the clasp to be sure of where to place it before adhering it down to the cover)

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

Decorate clasp with flowers/buttons/etc! Anything you want. You can spell out names, make designs, but make it yours!
