A scarf with multiple patterns and fun fringe.
 <  Image 1 of 4  >

The longer stitches were inspired by my mother, but the original lacy pattern came from the back of Caron Simply Soft yarn sleeve.

I added a few patterns to the original and gave it a little twist of my own to make it fun and different from my other scarves.

Also this is my first pattern I've written, so if there's any confusion at all or any questions, please feel free to msg me.

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Lacy Pattern from Caron Simply Soft yarn sleeve:
    Row 1: Ch 26.
Row 2: In second ch from hook, sc in second ch, ch 3, *work 3 dc in same ch as sc, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3; repeat from * across, end by working [sc, ch 3, 3 dc] in last ch; turn--7 clusters.
Row 3: Ch 3, sc in loop of ch 3. Ch 3, and in same loop 3 dc. Sc in next loop of ch 3. Repeat this across.

It should start to look like it does in the picture. I had already turned my piece when I took this picture so if yours looks like mine would in the mirror, then you're okay!

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Row 17: Ch 1 after desired lacy pattern is acquired, turn. Skip first dc in cluster, and sc in each stitch of clusters. You can go through every stitch, or instead of going to the lower ones just do 2 sc where the green arrow is (the loop of ch 3). Does that make sense?

Row 18-20: Dc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Row 21: Ch 12, skip first dc, and sc in next dc space.
Now the next step is all up to you, my sister preferred that I go through each dc, but if you want less bunching up (this produces sort of a wave through your scarf--i.e. wide, thin, wide) you can choose to skip a dc and sc the next and just go through the row that way.

Either way, continue with ch 12 and sc in dc st through end. Ch 1, turn.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Row 22: Sc in each loop. If you skipped dcs in step 3, then do TWO sc in each loop. Ch 1, turn.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Row 23: Dc through each sc, ch 1, turn.
Row 24-25: Dc through each dc, ch 1, turn.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

If you end up with more than 26 sts (I tended to do this a couple times throughout my piece), then you can just decrease while you're doing your three rows of dc, OR you can just skip 3-5 dc while you're doing your 7 clusters. Just count out however many dc you need to skip to get your SEVEN clusters; either way if you do end up with less or more it's very flexible to work around.

For the rest of the scarf, just repeat steps 1 through 5, making it your own desired lengths.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

For the fringe, cut 56 strands of yarn at 15" ea.

And if you want to add a little colour to the neutralness, just cut 28 strands of any fun colour 15" long.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

Take 4 pieces of your main colour, and 2 pieces of your fun colour, fold them in half.

Insert your needle in the loops of ch 3 of your clusters, WS to RS and pull just about an inch of loop through.

  9. Step 9

    Step 9

Take the tails of your fringe and put them through the loop.

  10. Step 10

    Step 10

Pull tight! Repeat through each cluster loop of ch 3 till done!

  11. Step 11

    Step 11

And there you have fun fringe!

  12. Step 12

    Step 12

And here's the waveyness of the scarf.

nice textures, keeps things interesting, and the two coloured fringe was great thinking.
