Wonderful Beer-Battered Fried Pickles

Sorry for the lack of pictures.

I know this calls for beer, but you really can't taste it, and all the alcohol cooks out, so these are safe for the young-uns.

  1. Step 1

Pour enough vegetable oil into a skillet to come up the sides about 3/4" and heat it up on the stove.

  2. Step 2

Whisk together the eggs and beer.

  3. Step 3

Slowly add flour to the eggy beer. You may need more or less than I've said. Make it a little thick. Batter-like.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Step 4

Dredge your pickle slices in the batter with tongs and carefully place them in the hot oil. I did between five and eight at a time.

Turn them after about a minute. Let them sit another minute (totaling 2 minutes cooking time per slice), and then take them out and place them on a paper towel or other grease-sucking object.

Ta-da! You've got some fried pickles! These lasted all of about ten minutes at my house.

Update: So my boyfriend and I made these last night then curled up and had a beer, they were AMAZING!!!! Only thing I would say is make sure to leave them in long enough so they get crispy, they tasted better that way! Yum!

I ordered these once at a rib cookoff with my family. Every family member tasted, said they were really really salty, and then came back for more. They were addicting. I can't wait to try these at home. Thanks for the recipe.

I made these last week, and they were amazing. A tip i would say is that after you put the leftovers in the fridge (if there are any!), whenever you take them out put them in the over for a reheat. Microwaving them would be kinda violent, and they wont taste as good. :]
