Treat your guests to some fried bats and ghosts this Halloween.

  1. Step 1

    Beat the water and egg together.

  2. Step 2

    In a separate bowl, cut the butter into the flour and salt until well mixed.


  3. Step 3

    Mix all ingredients together.

  4. Step 4

    Knead the dough into all ingredients are incorporated and form into a ball.


  5. Step 5

    Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour. If keeping more than 24 hours, freeze the dough.

  6. Step 6

    Roll out the dough on a flat surface and cut out your Halloween shapes.

  7. Step 7

    If your pie filling has whole or half pieces of strawberries, cut the pieces and mix the pie filling together.

  8. Step 8

    Spoon out your filling onto the dough. Take a second cut of dough and place over top. Fork the edges together, if they do not stick well, wet your finger and run it along the inside edges of the dough.

  9. Step 9

    Fry the empanadas until golden and set aside to cool before eating.
