Delicious way to use up all your excess bread!
This is an easy recipe that you can do the night before so that it will be ready the morning of and it only uses the sort of things you would normally have on hand for breakfast anyway.

    Take whatever bread you've got lying around and cut it into one inch thick slices.

    Allow it to become "stale".

    Chop the stale bread into inch sized pieces or so, mine are a little bigger because that was the aesthetic I was going for. Place bread cubes in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish.

    In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt.

    Pour over bread.

    Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.

    Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Dot with butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the top.

    Cover and bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 minutes.

Yeah it's my challah recipe that I made for Mardi Gras and it is crazy delicious. I love challah french toast, it's the best!
