Here's two more examples of Japanese shibori dye techniques that I'm working on. It's super simple to fold fabric and come up with endless combinations of patterns.

The first is an accordian fold. I just fold the fabric in half lengthwise, 3 times. Then do an accordian fold in the other direction for the full length and hold together with a couple of rubberbands.

The second photo shows the bundle prepped for dyeing. I like how the edges are darker from more dye. Thinking that it might make for a sweet summer scarf.

The third photo is a folded and clamped shibori which was totally an experimental piece for me. I really couldn't guess what effect I would get.

Basically, I took a square and kept folding into smaller and smaller triangles. Then I clamped metal washers on both ends of the bundle. The triangular outlines are nice but think it needs more center detail, Might re-clamp it in a different configuration and re-dye it to see what I get. Will keep you posted if I come up with some cool effect.

The last photo is what it looked like all folded and clamped before dyeing.
