Fold the cotton cord in two halfs. Tie an overhand knot 2cm (0.8â€) from the fold to make a loop. The loop should ï¬t tightly over a button.

Pass one of the two cord ends through one hole of the ï¬rst button and pass it back through the second hole. Repeat this with the other cord end from the other side
of the same button. The button is now ï¬xed between two cords. Tie an overhand knot. The distance between two knots should be about 3.5cm (1.5â€).
Repeat step 2 three more times.

Pass one of the two cord ends through one hole of the ï¬rst button and pass it back through the second hole. Tie the two cord ends in a square knot right under the second hole of the button as shown on the picture. The distance between the last overhand knot and the button should be about 2cm (0.8â€). Apply a drop of glue to the knot. Allow the glue to dry and trim excess cord.
