I found these in a book and thought they were easy and useful for crafting.

This is my 1st tutorial, so let me know if you have ?s.

  • How to sew a fabric flower brooches. Felt Flowers - Step 1
    Step 1

    Cut out two felt circles. I used the bottom of a coffee syrup bottle for a pattern.

    Step 2

    Thread needle with coordinating thread of 1st circle. Start at center and do a running stitch to the outside.

    Step 3

    Parallel to the stitch you just did, do a running stitch back to the middle.

    Step 4

    Pull the thread tight and tie a knot.

    Step 5

    At 120 degrees, repeat steps 2, 3, 4.

    Step 6

    Another 120 degrees, (or 1/2 way between material left) repeat steps 2, 3, 4.

    Step 7

    With the different color felt and coordinating thread, make second "flower". Through the middle, sew them together (rotating second flower 120 degrees so you can see back flower piece).

    Step 8

    Decorate flower with buttons, beads, other felt pieces, etc. Just let your imagination go!

    I used a plain, small button and sewed on with beads.

    Step 9

    Glue a pin back on your flower for a spring brooch or use as a decoration (I made a smaller one for a hair decoration on a felt doll).

    Make a whole bunch and decorate a pillow or a straw hat.

Too cute! My favorite flowers are the panseys and johnny jumpups!
I am sooooo ready for spring so we can go out and frolic with our mini goats! LOL
I just may have to make some purple ones to wear whilst frolicing! (I love that....whilst word!)
