Hi all!

This is my first, ever, tut and I'm a newbie to stitching.

This is a simple, doodle embroidered, felt covered hair barrette. It costs almost nothing to make & in a snap!

Enjoy!

Using your template, cut out 2 pieces from your felt

  3. Step 3 3

Take 1 of the felt pieces and doodle embroider your design leaving about 1/4" edge all around

    Put aside for a few

  4. Step 4 4

    Next...

Place the hair clip on the remaining piece of felt

Approximate where you'll be inserting the narrow piece (the unsnapped hair clip's bottom piece) through the felt

  5. Step 5 5

Taking your scissors, snip a short slit like this...

  6. Step 6 6

With an unsnapped hair clip, insert the narrow piece through the slit you just snipped

  7. Step 7 7

    Snap closed

  8. Step 8 8

Place the 2 felt pieces together, one on top of the other- your embroidered piece RS facing out, the underside should look like this

I used a running stitch all the way around

  9. Step 9 9

    Like so

  10. Step 10 10

    Turn it over

    Tah-dah!
