Perfect play food for messy toddlers!
So this Christmas my family agreed to gift homemade gifts. I knew exactly what I wanted to make my little nephew who just turned 1, FELT FOOD! YAY!
This was my first attempt at making felt food so I learned as I went.

I made patterns out of paper so that everything would match in size and shape. I then used a basic stitch around the outside with embroidery thread. I used a clean pillow to stuff the foods.

The skillet took awhile to master, I made a basic felt skillet and stuffed it with pillow but it was too floppy so I added a wire hanger bent into shape and taped around the sharp edges to give it stability. There is also a thin piece of cardboard in the bottom. I think my nephew likes the skillet the most!

For the grapes I used a running stitch around a circle of felt. When I got to the end I placed a bit of stuffing in the center and pulled the stitch tight. Similar to making a yo-yo, just not flat. The result is a perfectly filled circle with a tight opening that is easy to sew closed. One of my favorite pieces yet also one of the most difficult..funny how that works out. :)
