Don't let the number of steps scare you off, this is a straightforward project that doesn't require much skill with either Sculpey or painting to make a good looking final product.
If you have some basic craft supplies around the house, this is a very inexpensive way to make a nice knick-knack box.
If not, it is still under $20 (for the non-optional supplies) and most of the materials can be used again for this and other craft projects.

This is freaking crazy awesome. That looks so great. This is too ambitious for me to try but it's still very neat!

I honestly have to say Kudos. You're the very first person to post a 40 step tutorial. Next time I get an Altoid box and a bunch of time, I'll try this out. :D

To be fair, a bunch of the steps are just because I couldn't post multiple photos in one step, like the bottles of paint followed by what it should look like followed by applying it to the tin. And the last 5 are "completed" photos. But thanks.

I love the wood grain look! These technique is easier than other instructions I have to make faux woodgrain. I have a ton of altoids tins- I have a brand new Makin's Professional Clay (Pasta) Machine that hasn't been opened... hmmm, I think it's time to play in clay!!!
Thanks for the Tut!

Great job! This is really beautiful!
I cover Altoids tins too, but they don't look as nice as this! I was not very happy when Altoids decided to emboss their lids! Now I pick up tins where ever I can.
