Every fairy needs a little toadstool to live in
This toadstool is crocheted in the round, amigurumi-style, so a stitch marker is really important to mark the beginning of each round.
You'll make the bottom and the top, decorate each and stitch them together.

I use US terms, so single crochet is the same as UK double crochet here.
Chain (ch)
Single crochet (sc)
Double crochet (dc)
Stitches (sts)
Single Crochet 2 Together (sc2tog)

To Sc2tog:

Insert hook into next stitch.
Yarn over, pull up a loop. (2 loops on hook)
Insert hook into next stitch.
Yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook)
Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.

Chain 2, make 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook

4. (2 sc, 2sc in next sc) rep 6 times (24sc)
5. (3 sc, 2sc in next sc) rep 6 times (30sc)
6. (4 sc, 2sc in next sc) rep 6 times (36sc)
7. Ch 3 (first dc), 4 dc, 2 dc in next sc, (5 dc, 2dc in next sc) rep 5 times (42dc) sl st into 3rd stitch of chain
8. Ch 3 (first dc), 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, (6dc, 2dc in next sc) rep 5 times (48dc) sl st into 3rd stitch of chain
9 - 12. Sc 48
13. (4 sc, Sc2tog) rep 8 times (40 sc)
14. (3 sc, Sc2tog) rep 8 times (32 sc)

Decorate the base however you like.

Use rice or sand (in a muslin bag) to fill the base

Sl st into next stitch and fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing onto base.
Step 3
Decorate the top of the toadstool
Fill with stuffing.
Sew the top to the base, using a tapestry needle.

Stand back, and admire your cleverness.
Wait for the fairies to move in.
