a cute belt, and simple to boot!
For my next project milky chan tutorial, I'll be showing you how to make this simple belt with a pretty bow, a cute and easy alternative to waist ties!

    First, measure your waist and add a seam allowance. Find how wide you want your belt to be (for me this was the width of my waistband), multiply it by 2 and add a seam allowance. Then cut out a rectangle of fabric this big.

    Sew the long sides together and turn.

    Fold in the short sides and sew in place.

    Cut one rectangle of fabric around 3 times as wide as your finished belt, and as wide as you want the bow (with seam allowances). Cut another as wide as you want the bow centre plus seam allowances, and around 4 cm long according to how big your bow will be.

    Sew the short sides of the bigger rectangle together and turn.

    Fold in the ends and sew in place.

    Fold both long edges of the small rectangle in and position around the centre of the bow. Sew this all on to one end of your long strip, covering the blunt end.

    Sew a snap fastener or two onto each end.

    Now for belt hooks. Take the waist ties (or a matching fabric if you'd prefer) and remove the ends with the button holes.

    Cut 2 rectangles 4cm by the width of your belt, plus seam allowance and another centimetre for give.

    Iron in the top and bottom edges.

    do the same with the other sides, then iron in half.

    Sew down the long edges (I hand sewed these belt hooks).

    Sew the shot edges to the waist band.

    Thread your belt through the hooks!

    You can have your bow centred, or to the side. I personally prefer wearing it to one side :)
