Great, original and easy gift
I took this project from a gift that was given to my niece at her bday, so i decided to do a tutorial about it cuz i though it was just awesome, so i hope u like it and enjoy it.
For the cardboard you can use simple color paper sheets or construction paper, and the deco its all up to u

Step 1Take ur rectangles and mark 5cm at the top and botomm part and then fold were u marked

Step 2then take again the rectangles and do the same vertically... but be carefull just to do it at the little new rectangles marked at the top and bottom

Step 3Do the same with all of the rectangles

Step 4align 2 of the rectangles vertically. now put some glue just at the external little squares on two of the cardboard rectangles. (the ones that have the little black dots)

Step 5and place over the other 2 rectangles but in horizontal way. push really hard so they all glue toghether just fine.

Step 6once u know for sure they are attached to each other is time to open it all and endlessly.

Step 7keep folding everywhere u can and make sure to mark really good the folding.

Step 8u will have several figures and it will fold everywhere and keep going, open it always by the middle.

Step 9now that u have it all fold u can start decorating.

Step 10one fold at the time, start writing and sticking the things and whatever draws and pics u want.

Step 11and that it is... KEEP ON FOLDING!!!!!
