I loved this idea as soon as I saw it. New embroidery thread has those little bits of paper around it to keep it together but once you take those off it gets all tangly, as Jewels said. The paper bits keep it stored nicely so these are for the thread that has been used, this way it stays all lovely.

I drew the shape on some card and cut it out, I used this first shape as a template to make more. I drew around each shape individually on pages of a brochure and glued the paper onto the card. This took over 2 hours because I have over 20 thread holders.

I made a small box with more card and wrapped a printed plastic bag onto it. This took a further 2 hours.

Big thank you to Jewels and Amy at Craft Chi.
