Eco Friendly Up & Recycled Shipping Box

  • Completed Project: Eco Friendly Up & Recycled Shipping Box Picture #1

because it's what Jesus Would Do

This was inspired by me not wanting to pay for little fancy boxes to ship jewelry in, that were probably going to just be thrown away, anyway. These are recycled and fabulous, and surprisingly easy to make!

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Gather these here supplies. I used cardboard from the bottom of our bottled water 24-pack (which I'm fully aware is bad for the environment.. I'm trying here.)

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

    Print the template located here

Or draw out the general shape any size you want, just make sure all the sides match :)

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

CUT along the solid lines of the printed template and trace the outline onto your cardboard.

(Draw the template on what you want to be the OUTSIDE of the box. You'll be scoring the lines, they won't show up unless you use a huge marker or something.)

Move your template over and draw the SCORE lines (the dashed lines) accordingly OR measure appropriately and draw thusly.

Once all drawing has been accomplished...

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Move your template out of the way so you don't hurt it..

and CUT along the SOLID lines on your cardboard, using the scissors (or you're handy with a knife.. go for it)

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Proceed to SCORE on the DASHED lines.

For those of you who don't understand scoring, PIERCE the cardboard, but DO NOT CUT all the way through; that'd defeat the purpose :)

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Fold the scored areas inward, thusly forming a box. The top isn't supposed to stick inside the box, it's merely a "ceiling" or "cover".

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Put whatever things you're gonna ship/give/etc into the box (fill it with tissue paper, toilet paper, whatever for security, if you like.)

Use ribbon, raffia, yarn, whatever, to tie up the sides. This is what makes the box.. a box. You're done!

I'm a little confused. Can you write the address on that box and send it or does it have to go in an envelope?

It's for sticking inside the bubble mailer (or larger box filled with newspaper, toilet paper...?? etc) of your choice.

The box is for holding trinkets and or jewelry so it has a shelter :)
