Easy Little Girl's 2T Sundress
I made these sundresses from a vintage pattern Butterick 4242 as I was looking for something easy to make for my upcoming yard sale.I have made about 50 of these so far.I hope you can read the instructions as I don't know how to do tutorials yet and I don't have a camera for that.
All you need are 3 pattern pieces, dress(cut 2 on fold)bias strips(cut 4) for the armholes/ties and bias strips(cut 2)for the neckline.

  • Step 1

There is a notch at the neckline, cut one on each side for gathering the neck.
Then fold short bias strip in half longwise and press and pin(on wrong side) to gathered neckline, sew across, press and turn to right side, fold over and sew across.Do each step twice, one to each body piece.

Now sew (one) side seam of dress right sides together.
Take (2) long bias strips, sew them at only one end, right sides together, then fold that strip in half and press.Pin this strip to armhole starting in the middle of the strip where you just sewed together and this goes to the side seam at the armhole.Pin all around armhole(you will have a long strip on each side(these are the shoulder ties)
Now do the other side of dress the same way, then all is left is the hem and embellishments of your choice.
Once you make one you will see how easy it is to put together. If you have any questions feel free to leave me a message.
    Thanks and Happy Sewing!
