  1. Step 1

    Step 1

We purchased an old frame and did this so fast that I didn't get a chance to take step by step photos... This size had a slighly smaller than 8" X 10" opening.

Take out the glass and art or photo from the frame.... do a quick paint job to match your decor.... we used acrylic black to cover the wood. We then then added some simple swirls with red, a little pale green for leaves and finally highlighting again with white and red paint.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

The mesh is plastic needlepoint mesh, 8" X 10" that I sprayed with black spray paint. We also found this in the craft supplies at the thrift. You could subsitute the size frame or mesh that is available.... just check that the mesh will be big enough to cover the opening in the frame and allow some room for staples on the back.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Finally after the paint dries... staple the mesh on the back side of the frame. To make a stand I used a piece of wood from my husbands scrap wood stash. Any triangle of wood scrap will work. I used the glue gun to attach the wedge on the center lower edge of the frame. A good amount of gorillia glue would work also but you would have to wait for that to dry!

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

    Use and Enjoy!

Needlepoint mesh! Never thought of using that since I don't do needlepint, but I've been making these for a few years with old window screens I got from the hardware store, and my supply is running out.
