Sick of hiding your jewellery away? TRY THIS!!
My jewellery box is terrible for holding my earrings in place. I have seen similar frames in many vintage shops I have been into, so I decided to make myself one.

  • Step 1

Remove glass and backing from picture frame

  • Step 2

Cut to fit in place of the backing, a piece of cork board. This as a bit tricky for me as the board was so thick. I did with with a large craft knife, so watch out for your fingers and the surface you are working on.

Cut the same size for the fabric you want to use.

  • Step 3

    The fabric.
I decided I wanted mine to look 'quilted' so on went my sewing machine and I sewed diagonal lines from each side (making diamond shapes) in navy blue thread.

  • Step 4

I then glued around the lip of the picture frame so that the fabric and cork board would sit securely.

Lowered them in, smoothed out the fabric.

Leave it to dry and bobs your uncle you have a frame like me :D

  • Step 5

To make the board more secure, I bent the metal clips on the back into the cork board, covered the edges in more pva, then lined the back with masking tape, which I then covered in PVA glue.

I also find that cause earrings do not have a point, to stop you snapping the backs off them, poke a hole through first with a pin, then push the earring in :)
