Earbud Earrings

  • Completed Project: Earbud Earrings Picture #1

Show your love for your Ipod with these nifty earbud earrings!

I recommend using old earbuds for this project. If you end up making these, please take a picture and show me!

Add to Favorites Add Your Version

  1. Step 1

Cut earbuds from wires, right at the base of the earbud (where the wire goes into the earbud).

  2. Step 2

    Open crimps wide using pliers.

  3. Step 3

Use pliers to shape crimps around earbuds.

  4. Step 4

Using super glue (or whatever type you have handy - the stronger the better) glue crimps to earbuds.

  5. Step 5

Insert earring hooks through holes in crimps, and viola! Two new earbud earrings. :D

Those are amazing and I've got loads of iPod headphones hanging around. I wish they would invent headphones without the wires, that would be cool!

I keep hoping for that too. I guess we just have to keep on dreaming!

Yeah, for now we'll just have to invent new and better ways of keeping the wires untangled.

I think I kept my broken ones, very good idea :) There are wireless headphones, sadly you can only use them in close proximity to a base station, so basically indoors. They are very cool though!

Wow that's super-cool, I'll steal my brother's headphones and tell him he left them on the bus

woo! will have to try this. I bought some DJ style earphones cos I guess my ears are totally the wrong shape for that kind n they hurt.. glad i have a use for my old ones now :)
maybe even a charm bracelet if i can find all the different kinds I've had.
Yay for inspiration!

Yeah those headphones were too big for my ears and hurt when I wore them too. The new shape, iPhone ones are perfect though.

I think headphones without wires already exist.
There just very expensive I guess...

Actualy I think they wouldn't be very handy..
Suddenly you'd just hear nothing but noise telling you there's a bad connection...

And you would probably lose them falling out of your ears..

But yes you wouldn't have to untangle the wires anymore ;D

Love these, defenitly gonna make them when my headphones are broken ;D

Jess: I suppose I should have called it a "jewelry crimp". If you ask to be shown some at your local craft store, you'll certainly see what I used. I'll fix it in the how-to right now. [:

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. ^^

Sounds much easier than digging up more of those crimps is proving to be. If you make them like that, please post a picture!

That's cool. My mom keeps breaking hers. Maybe she knows about this project and is just waiting for me to make her earrings.

when i was making this i cut off the earbuds and discovered that the wires they use are sooo colorful. so i slid all of the wires out of the casings and am making a cool bracelet out of them. its like, extreme recycling.
