  • How to decorate headphones. Ear Muff Headphones! - Step 1
    Step 1

First, choose and cut your fabric out.

I used the fabric from an old bathrobe, but feel free to choose whatever you like thats warm and toasty. The piece I'm holding up is from the pocket.

Make sure its big enough to cover the cups for your headphones.

Next, you can pin the fabric to the cups if you want.

Use a strong stitch of your choice (like a whipstitch or a backstitch) and sew along the edges.

    Sew all the way around.

There should be a fair bit of overhang left.

Time to trim it off. But WAIT! Leave a little bit of over hang!

Here is what it should look like.

Now take your ribbon and measure along the seam you have just sewn.

Fold over the raw edge and glue it down. Now, carefully glue down your ribbon over your overhang.

This will keep the fleece from going all over and pilling and stuff.

Make sure the starting and end point are in the back of the headphones. This is so that when you wear them, the front is nice and clean.

  • Step 6

Repeat steps 1-5 on the other side!

    Viola!

Now. Its your choice if you want these to function of not.

You can either chop off the wire, or leave them on.

    I left mine on.

    *NOTE*

The fleece DOES affect sound quality. But not by too much. (Then again, these aren't the best headphones to start out with.)

  • Step 8

Now if you have plastic over-sized headphones... you can paint on them!

Just clean the surface with some rubbing alchohol, and then prime the surface with either white acrylic or white enamel paint.

Then you can go to town and do whatever kind of design! Just remember to seal it with varnish. (Cover the cloth parts with some plastic wrap if you choose to do this step.)

^ This is why my headphones are grey. I primed it white, then grey, and I'm now contemplating designs.

    Have fun!
