Sometimes you just want to take him outside and not worry if he wanders off on his own. Now you can! Just put his new harness on and he's ready to go.
Measure the dragons chest, just behind his legs and his back.
Measure the distance between his front legs.
Find a piece of leather scrap that fits the circumfrence and is 1 1/2"-2" wide (depends on the size of your dragon.
Mark on your leather the front leg distance and cut the openingss. Make the holes wide enough to fit the feet through easily.
Cut holes in the leather starting at the pencil line. Leaving enough room at ends to make holes for jump rings.
Using a leather needle or a super sharp needle put holes at the ends of leather piece and attatch jump rings.(I used split rings from the tackle box they work well too.)
Try leather harness on your dragon.
Make adjustments if needed.
I cut some more leather away near his neck so his spurs would'nt catch.
The leash is knitted using a basic 5 stitch eye cord.
Cast on 5 stitches with a pair of double pointed needles leaving a 12" tail. Don't turn your work as you knit, slid it back to the right and keep knitting. Knit to the length you need. I used 100% wool so I could felt it and make it stronger. I made it 24" longer than it should be. This will allow for shrinkage of the wool and the hand hold.
Before casting off on your eye cord attatch the lanyard to your stitches. Cut 12" from end of your yarn and thread through the stitches on the lanyard going back and forth several times to make sure the leash stays in place.
Fold down 8 inches on other end of eye cord and stitch to make a loop where your hand will go.
Throw in washing machine in HOT water with soap and felt. I have a little zippered bag I put my felting projects in. You can do this or just add an old pair of blue jeans. After it's dried your ready to walk your dragon.
Attatch harness and attatch leash to your EXCITED dragon.
Go walk your dragon outside!!!
