Cocker Spaniel Quilt Portrait
 <  Image 1 of 2  >

This is of my mother-in-law's dog Penny. I gave it to her for Christmas 2008.

I saw this how-to in Quilt Arts Magazine and I knew it would make a great gift.

I used a few fat quarter pieces and scraps I've had from other projects. The daisies are my mother-in-laws favorite flower and she has her kitchen with a lot of roosters/chicken stuff so that's why i chose those two fabrics. For the collar I used a trim with dangly beading on it.

One of my favorite parts of it is the detail on the one ear (its hard to see in the pic, though). I used all layers of fabric to make it appear more 3d and curly.
