Upcycle the top off a plastic bottle into a jump ring opening/closing tool
I has purchased jump ring ring tool off of E-Bay and couldn't locate it when I went to work on a project so I decided to DIY my own using the top off of a 20 oz soda bottle.

To use, you put the jump ring in the opening and twist to open. Same thing to close it; put it in the opening and then twist back.

Step 1
Rinse out the bottle and pry off the plastic ring (red on this bottle)
Step 2
Use a hot knife, or a box cutter the top off of the bottle just above the wider ring before the body of the bottle starts,
Step 3
Take you time and don't force it as you could cut yourself.
Step 4
Use the hot knife or box cutter and cut a rectangle between the ridges (I highlighted in red where I cut as it is hard to see.). I cut vertically on each side, then horizontal at the ends.
Step 5
Use a hot knife or a candle and box cutter to smooth out rough edges.
Step 6
Use a piece of clear tape to tape over the opening on the inside in case there are any rough edges left so you don't scratch your finger.
