An exfoliator that's quick, cheap, and really works!

This is a quick and inexpensive exfoliator for your face. The oatmeal helps soothe the skin, the sugar in the honey helps draw out moisture, and the coffee grounds exfoliate. I don't have any pics right now, but it's simple enough to folow along. Enjoy! **DO NOT SCRUB ROUGHLY, AS YOU CAN DAMAGE YOUR SKIN. KNOW YOUR LIMITS**

This is a quick and inexpensive exfoliator for your face. The oatmeal helps soothe the skin, the sugar in the honey helps draw out moisture, and the coffee grounds exfoliate. Instructions

  1. Take your oats, and grind them up so they are almost a powder, but still have some pieces and fragments in it. You can chop them, grind in a coffee grinder, use a mortar and pestle, or put them in a plastic bag and whack it with a rolling pin.

  2. Either dry your used coffee grounds the night before (bonus DIY points for this!) or grind some new ones. Like with the oatmeal, you don't want them to be a perfect powder, but you don't want the grounds to be too rough and abrasive.

  3. Mix the oat and coffee together in a small, resealable container, just enough so they're halfway mixed.

  4. Take a microwave safe container (like a glass measuring cup, but nothing plastic!) and pour in your water. Heat it up so the water is very warm, but not steaming or enough to burn you. (Approximately 45 seconds on most microwaves will give you the proper heat.) (*Optional*) You can also boil some water, and place a metal bowl on top of the pot, with the honey in it. This way, you can have hot water for some tea, use the hot water for your project, and melt the honey!

  5. Take the hot/warm water, and add in the honey. Stir well, until the honey is mostly mixed in.

  6. Use a spoon to scrape the honey into the coffee/oat mixture, and add more water as needed. Don't add too much water, because then the mixture will be goopy and runny. But, if you don't add enough, it will be sticky and drying.

  7. Small 102215 2f2014 05 30 081551 face%2bsoap

Take a washcloth, sponge, or a face scrub brush, and use a gentle cleanser, (found in one of my other DIY's!) and clean your face softly and gently, just to remove some of the surface dirt. **DO NOT DRY YOUR FACE.**

  8. Small 102215 2f2014 05 30 081405 face%2bscrub

Heat up the mixture a little if it's cooled down too much, and put on your gloves. Grab some mixture, and start scrubbing! Remember, you want to scrub the dirt, oil, and grime off your face, not your skin, so don't rub too hard!

  9. Small 102215 2f2014 05 30 081323 washing%2bface

Rinse off your face, or gently wipe off the scrub with a wet washcloth/sponge, and voila! Your face should be a little pinkish, not red, irritated and hurting. Rub some moisturizer or night cream in, and you now have gorgeous skin.
