Dino cake
 <  Image 1 of 6  >

This is my version of a cake I found on another website. While baking the cake is rather simple, figuring out the placement of the dino's arms and legs and head and what goes where was a little tricky. Icing it is a bit time consuming considering that I had to do two layers of icing, a crumb coat and the final coat. This is a rather fun project to do after you get the difficult parts out of the way. Oh and the head tends to get a little heavy especially if you use fondant on it. I would recommend putting some type of support under it. We rolled up a ball of red fondant to place under the dino's chin too look like he was resting his head on a ball(not pictured.)
I got the idea and how to's from this site:

This would be a perfect cake to make for a kid's birthday as most are nuts over dinosaurs.

I like yours much better with the smooth body and the spots than the one at Instructables covered with the star tipped icing; he looks friendlier and more approachable (edible).

Thank you sooo much! Luckily I had the help of my younger sister or I don't think I could have pulled this one off. And doing the smooth icing opposed to the star tipped was a big time saver! My son loved this cake, he went straight for the head!
