Decoupaged Lids Tutorial!

Recently I made a project that used recycled (actually saved-from-the-recycling) plastic jugs. I didn't need the caps at the time but I kept them because I love circles and I thought I'd figure out something to do with them--and I did. I actually figured out three things to do with them: a magnet, a necklace or a pair of earrings! So grab some caps and choose whether you want to wear them or display them on your fridge!

Crafts

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

Apply a thin layer of decoupage medium to the cap with a brush. Press the paper or fabric firmly to attach.

  2. Step 2 2

Trim carefully around edges if needed.

  3. Step 3 3

Apply another thin layer to the top of the cap being sure to seal around the edges.

  4. Step 4 4

Let dry and either apply a second layer of decoupage medium or a layer of varnish.

  5. Step 5 5

    Let dry overnight.

  6. Step 6 6

    Glue on the magnet or:

  7. Step 7 7

Cut a length of cord and attach the end caps with loops and the clasp.

  8. Step 8 8

Attach the large jump ring to the cap.

  9. Step 9 9

(use an awl or a push pin to make a hole in the top of the cap) String cord through ring and:

  10. Step 10 10

    Voila!!!

  11. Step 11 11

For earrings simply attach the ear wires to the caps or attach a jump ring to the caps and the ear wires to the jump ring!

Put on, feel fabulous and enjoy their near-weightlessness!!!!!
