to brighten up a boring hat
I cut out a skull from a scrap of Alexander Henry fabric I had leftover, and sewed it to a scrap of felt using a row of blanket stitch and a row of chain stitch. Before sewing all the way round, I used a few tiny scraps of felt to lightly stuff the shape before continuing round with the embroidery.

I sewed on 2 sequins for glittering eyes, pulling the thread tight to give the stuffed shape some dimension, and embroidered a fiercer mouth over the print one. Finally I trimmed the felt backing close to the stitching (careful not to go too close!), sewed a safety pin to the back and pinned it on to a boring knitted hat.

I'm gonna make more of these with different printed fabric.
