tote bag
So I made this bag about 2.5 years ago (during a huge D.G. phase) and I never got around to posting it. I am so bad at remembering to take pics of things....
I made up a little pattern for myself using thin old typewriter paper, a magazine image from Spin and photographer's light table (kind of like how you render a tattoo sketch) and then pinned it directly onto a piece of pant leg (from my fave pare that gave up and died). After I finished the Dave stitchpic, I carefully tore out the paper. (I did the hair without any paper guidance).
To make the body of the bag, I took and old heavy duty apron from my barista days and made a rectangular tote, seam ripped off one of the old pockets and sewed it onto the back of the bag for easy cigg/lighter and cell access. I took the old waist ties and turned them into the bag straps. I attached the pant leg/Dave panel using a running split stitch and left the edges of the panel frayed on purpose. Lastly I got away without having to properly hem the top/opening by using a variety of embroidery stitches around the edge to kind of make it look like one of those old-timey guitar strap patterns.
