Nice & Simple
Description

I have seen many " t-shirt surgery " how-to's, so I decided to recycle and old shirt myself. So I destroyed this one and turned it into this halter top, and added a few details to it to make it prettier ^^ I do apologise for the ugliness of the how to, I just hope you can at least understand it easily.

Instructions
  1. 1
    Step 1

Here is the how to that many of you have long waited for !
So. first take your old and ugly shirt : it mustn't be too large, but not too tight either.
gather your ribbons, buttons or whatever you want to add to it later.

NOTE : I hand stitched this all, because I have no sewing machine, but use yours if you have one, you'll save a lot of time.

  2. 2
    Step 2

Remove the lower hem stitch with scissors or whatever you want.

then trace a line at about 5 cm (i don't know how to measure in inches, sorry) or more from the top, depending how large you want your straps to be. cut it all, and separate in two bands of equal length.

  3. 3
    Step 3

take one of these bands, fold it in half, pin and sew. flip it inside out. repeat step with the other strap.

  4. 4
    Step 4

take your now shorter shirt, and cut on both sides along the dotted black and red lines. sew both squares of fabric as you see on the picture.

  5. 5
    Step 5

take your two left over fabric parts. sew the side as you see on the pic. then sew these two kinda tubes together. (you can add a hem to the bottom of the lower part, I forgot to mention it on the drawing)

  6. 6
    Step 6

then sew your straps as indicated here ^^ you can cross them on the back as well.

  7. 7
    Step 7

Voilà! all you have to do now is add your ribbons, buttons, beads, everything that pleases you to decorate the shirt. have fun !

note : my top has a particular shape because the original t-shirt had a slight v-neck. these are the different kind of shapes you may obtain, depending on the shape of the shirt you use.

Cute!
The only thing I would change about this shirt would be the seam right on your chest. I don't know, I just find seams on the chest to be unsightly.
But it's still a really cute shirt. :)
