My first designed pencil case ^_^
Not so sure about the time but It will take you about 1.5 hrs unless it will take you more if you stop for breaks or redo the whole thing (hope that won't happen =D ). Not so hard from a none experienced 14 year old XD. Mum helped with the edge part. Love the result, can't wait to go back to school and show off my "new" pencil case, they will be like :O when I tell them I designed it !

Step 1
First get the pencil case, and choose a design, which was the hardest part for me everything looked so cute but some where hard :/
Step 2
Begin to embroider your design, I had a "vision" of what I wanted mine to look like so I didn't mark anything on the fabric, but if you find it easier just draw the design and follow.
Step 3
If you are a beginner like me I suggest not to try letters! also take a small break, look at your work in a proud way, after you are ready continue. This is because either you get bored and just won't finish or else you continue and you do everything wrong :/
Step 4
Add some stuff to make it cuter, now you are finished with your design.
Step 5
Now Iron your master piece.

Put the filling behind it.

We have a sewing machine which is used to cut the hems but get them neat, if you have one go round the edge if not try to do something hand sewn maybe.(mum helped me)

Then put it on the pencil case and (doesn't have to be neat not at all) sew in black inwards the border so as to keep it in place.
Then begin to sew it to the pocket with white thread (has to be neat lol)
Step 6
Not cut that black un neat thread.
