Cute face to cheer you up when you need to blow your nose
My friend loves Hello Kitty and for her birthday I bought her a Hello Kitty bag and wanted to fill it with some cute essential everyday things. She uses a lot of tissues because of allergies, but I didn't want to just dump those lame travel tissues into her bag, so I made a cute cover so it wouldn't be such an eyesore ^^. Based on a tutorial from the book Cute Stuff by Aranzi Aronzo. Hope you also enjoy this project. Please let me know if any instructions are confusing. Also really check out that book. It has some really awesome stuff.

  • How to make a tissues holder. Cute Travelling Tissue Case - Step 1
    Step 1

First choose your felt or fabric. I chose white felt for my Hello Kitty face. Measure and cut out a piece that is 23.5 cm by 15 cm. With a pencil, lightly draw lines to divide your piece into 3 sections measuring 7cm, 10cm and 6.5 cm. See picture for visual.

Next you want to measure 1cm at the top and bottom, folding it down to create a hem (you can iron it or pin it down if needed). Then glue or sew this down. This will create a nice finished hem later for the opening of your tissue case.

    Step 3

Then flip your piece over to the other side to work on your face. It shouldn't have any marks on it (the lines in the picture are just for reference). The eyes and nose go on Part 1 (upside down), and if you use a different character that has a mouth, that will go in Part 2 (right side up).

If this is confusing, flip it back to the side where you marked the lines. Fold Part 2 up first, then Part 1 down. Then arrange your face that way with the eyes and nose on the top half and the mouth on the bottom.

Once you have your face the way you want it, pin it and then sew or glue in place. Be sure to use matching colored thread if you're sewing. Also, make sure your face doesn't reach the edges because you'll be sewing those edges closed.

    Step 4

With the face side facing you, fold Part 1 down at the line you marked in the back. You can then pin this flap to keep it in place. Then fold Part 2 up at the line you marked in the back. Part 2 should overlap Part 1.

    Step 5

This is what it should look like once you've folded it. Now mark about 1cm on the two open ends and sew these closed. If you're using a sewing machine, do a 1/4in. seam.

    Step 6

Once you've closed off your edges, take your piece and flip it inside out. Now you just need some finishing touches. I cut out a pink felt bow and sewed it onto one corner and also sewed on some whiskers with back thread (or you can use black fabric paint). You are done!

@ Destiney Y. - sorry it took so long to reply but I have done this case before using colored vinyl for wet wipes. It keeps things a little cleaner than using felt.
