Easiest and cheapest way to dress up a table
My husband and I saved up for a new dining table. We wanted to spend the $ on the table because we already had what we wanted for the chairs. I wanted a table runner and place mats to help protect it. Since it is an oddball size nothing fit. I was going to make a quilt style cover and then came across this fabric at the thrift store. There were 2 piece each about 1-1/2 yards and the cost was $4.99 each. Since we were at my favorite thrift store Savers I got 1/2 off because they support the MS society and since I have MS I get 1/2 off so this was even a better deal :-)

  • How to make a placemat. Custom Table Runner And Placements - Step 1
    Step 1

Here is one of the 2 panels. I had already cut up the 1st piece when I realized I should be taking pictures LOL
The entire project took up 1 entire piece and a little strip off the second for the length of the table runner. I still have enough to make a another project. I am thinking about some cushion covers for the chairs or bench. Not sure though yet.

After doing some math I cut the fabric, ironed it then sewed a basic 1/4" zigzag twice around the edges. Each time around I changed the width of the stitch just cause I liked the look of it. I also think it matches our dishes perfectly also. Sometimes you just find the perfect thing if you have patience :-)
