These are hanging christmas tree decorations I made last year. I used wool with a lurex thread running through and croched a standard flower shape. You can make them as big or small as you like. These are about6cm wide and I put a mini tinsel pom-pom on hte centre. You could back-to-back 2 of the same to make a 3D version! A free pattern for a crochet flower can be found in the link below.
