Fun and fast to make and a unique accent to your chosen ensemble!
CHAIN-LOOP PONCHETTE

*Size N Hook
*4 ply yarn- Approx. 6 ozs. color of your choice

NOTE: Entire ponchette is worked with 2 strands of yarn held together at same time. In order to avoid confusion, mark the very first sc of rnd 1 as a focal point. You will not actually be working in this sc, but will find it easier to discern the beginning of each rnd if you mark it.

  • Step 1

RND 1: Ch 60, (not tightly) to measure approx. 31 ½ inches without stretching. Join to first ch to form circle, being careful not to twist. Ch 1, sc in same st as joining and in each ch around, join with sl st to 1st sc. (60 sc) Ch 50, sk 11 sc, 1 sc in next sc. FIRST group of 11 sc and 1st ch lp have just been completed. (Ch 50, sk 11 sc, 1 sc in next sc) 3 times, ending with, ch 50, 1 sc in 2nd sc of the first group of 11 sc. In other words, do not sl st in beg sc of rnd, as is standard for some rnd endings, but moving past that point to the FIRST group of 11 sc. (5- ch 50 lps and 5- 11 sc groups, with last sc of rnd made in 2nd sc of 1st group of 11 sc)
NOTE: You will be ending each round by working your last sc 2 more stitches over in the FIRST 11 sc group. By the time you finish all rounds, you will have ended each round in the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th sc of the FIRST 11 sc group.
RND 2: (Ch 50, 1 sc in 2nd sc of next 11 sc group) 4 times, ending with, ch 50, 1 sc in 4th sc of 1st 11 sc group.
RND 3: (Ch 50, 1 sc in 4th sc of next 11 sc group) 4 times, ending with, ch 50, 1 sc in 6th sc of 1st 11 sc group.
RND 4: (Ch 50, 1 sc in 6th sc of next 11 sc group) 4 times, ending with, ch 50, 1 sc in 8th sc of 1st 11 sc group)
RND 5: (Ch 50, 1 sc in 8th sc of next 11 sc group) 4 times, ending with, ch 50, 1 sc in 10th sc of 1st 11 sc group.
RND 6: (Ch 50, 1 sc in 10th sc of next 11 sc group) 4 times, ending with, ch 50, 1 sc in the 10th sc of last 11 sc group. Fasten off.
    NECK EDGING
RND 1: With right side facing, join yarn in back center st at neck edge. You will actually be working on the opposite side of foundation chs, in the base of sc’s of
rnd 1 of ponchette. Ch 3 (counts as hdc and ch 1), *sk next st, 1 hdc in next, rep from* around, join with sl st to 2nd ch of ch . (30 ch 1 sps)
RND 2: Sl st in 1st ch 1 sp, ch 3, *1 hdc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, rep from* around, join. (30 ch 1 sps)
RND : 1 sc in 1st ch 1 sp and in each ch 1 sp around. Do not work too tightly! This rnd is only meant to slightly shape neck edge.

    FLOWER DÉCOR
Still working with 2 strands of yarn, ch 4, join to form circle. *Ch 4 (counts as 1 trc), work 2 trc in circle, ch 3, sl st in circle (1st petal made), rep from* 3 times, fasten off. ( 4 petals)…. If desired, for a flower edging, use a contrasting color different from flower color and sl st in the back loop of each st round. You may also place a decorative button in center of flower for an accent. Sew to ponchette in desired position.

    PATRIOTIC PONCHETTE
Work the same as above ponchette, beg with blue for rnd 1, then continuing to alternate colors (white, red, blue) changing color on each rnd. To change colors, attach new color at end of each rnd, being sure to join the new color in the exact same sc as what you end with, and not in a new stitch. For the neck edging, use blue, making the last sc rnd in white.

    STAR
    Make 2.
With white, SINGLE strand of yarn, and a SIZE J HOOK . Ch 2, 10 sc in 2nd ch from hk, join with sl st to first sc, *ch 5, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next, 1 trc in last, sk next sc on 10 sc circle sc, sl st in next, rep from* around, fasten off. (5 star points) Place wrong sides of each star touching and sew tog all around.
