Use this faux tile background to add a new look to your cards
This technique shows you how to create a faux tile look.

    Begin with a 5" x 5" square piece of white cardstock.

    Using a scoring board score the cardstock at 1" intervals. Rotate and score it again.

    This technique adds dimension to the backgrounds of your stamped images with a crisp, clean look of the scored lines. It's easy to do and the ends results are beautiful.

    You will have a piece that looks like this and is evenly divided into 5 smaller squares across the top and from top to bottom.

    Now, using a light brown ink to give the piece an antiqued look. Add ink onto a craft mat and use the blending tool to pick up the ink by moving it in a circular motion. Slowly move the tool onto the paper making sure to move inward from the edges. Don't press hard because you do not want ink to get into the scored grooves. Pick up ink as you need moving back onto the paper using the circular motion.

    Stamp your design repeatedly onto the cardstock making sure to use a light pressure so you don't press ink into the score lines.

    Continue to stamp different elements to add to the design using different inks to add color. Be sure to stamp some elements off the page to add to the look.

    Finish off the design by filling in any open areas with a smaller stamp.
