Cute platform shoes that are easy to make and sure to turn heads!
I really wanted a pair of platform shoes...but to buy shoes like these online would cost hundreds of dollars :( So I decided to make my own! I was inspired to make them after seeing how well Kerli's (Estonian singer) turned out. She made hers too :) Here is a tutorial on how to make crazy platform shoes. Step 1Using strong scissors, you will need to cut the straps off of all your flip flops and push the thong pieces out of the holes.

Step 2Here are my flip flops after I cut all of the straps off. You do not need to use this many! If you want shorter platforms, use less flip flops and if you want them taller, use more. Although, I do not recommend making them taller than 6 inches because they will be very hard to walk in.

Step 3Glue your flip flop layers on top of each other to create a platform. Do this for your left and right foot. You should probably wear gloves for this because it can get messy and do it in a well ventilated area. (I did not use enough glue, please use more than is shown in the picture.You will need 2-4 bottles depending on how many flip flops you are gluing.)

Step 4After you are done gluing both layers, set weights on top of them to apply pressure(I used 10 pound weights). With a paper towel, wipe of any excess glue that may squeeze out of the sides. Let this dry for 24 hours.

Step 5After 24 hours has passed, you can glue your shoes to the tops of your platforms. Your shoes will probably lift up a little, so use rubber bands to bind them to the platforms. Put your weights back on top and allow to dry for 24 hours.

Step 6You can wear them now! But they probably look pretty plain and boring, sooo it's time to decorate! :)

Step 7I decorated mine by using this wonderful glittery ribbon that I bought from AC Moore. Some other decorating ideas are patterned duct tape, studs, spikes, gems, ribbon, chain, or if you want glitter platforms you can mix fine glitter with Mod Podge and pain the mixture onto your platforms. It may take several coats and there are tutorials on how to do this :)

Step 8They are done! The tops of my shoes fold down, haha :P I used E-6000 to glue the ribbon to my platforms. I strongly suggest using E-6000 rather than a hot glue gun, super glue, or anything else. E-6000 is waterproof, very strong, clear, and it is easy to remove from your skin!
