Want some fancy pots to show off your indoor plants? Then make these copper leafed pots!

You can use any kind of foil leafing, but I am partial to copper!

  • How to paint a painted flower pot. Copper Leafed Pots - Step 1
    Step 1

Paint your pots in a shade that contrasts nicely with your foil leaf.

  • Step 2

When your paint dries (I like to wait a day) tape off a shape that you want to leaf (a triangle is really simple). Brush on a coat of Mod Podge in the area that you will be leafing.

  • Step 3

Wait a few minutes so that the Mod Podge is tacky, but not gooey - you want the foil leaf to stick and not slide around when you place it.

  • Step 4

Take a sheet of foil leaf and press it onto the area that you applied the Mod Podge to. Make sure that the foil leaf is sticking to the adhesive and pull the foil leaf paper away. Your leafing project is going to look really messy right now.

  • Step 5

After about 20 minutes check that your Mod Podge is dry (you can always wait overnight if you like), when it is dry use a brush and wipe away the excess leafing. Once all the excess leafing has been removed you can remove the masking tape.

  • Step 6

Give the entire pot a coat or two of the Mod Podge to seal and protect both the paint and the foil leafing. When your pot is dry, plant your favorite plant and display!
