1. 

   

   I started by making a trip to the dollar store, Goodwill and Walmart:
   
   - Ugly Grandma lamp with fake plastic pleated shade - $3
   - Heavy Coca Cola glass ($1)
   - Bag of black stones ($1)
   - Bag of star shaped clear stones ($1)
   - Red acrylic paint ($1)
   - 25 ft. replacement cord for the lamp. ($3)
   - Coke T-Shirt (my son's too small t-shirt - free)

   First we took the lamp apart:

   Then preped the replacement cord.
   
   

4. 

   

   Next cut the label off of a plastic Coke bottle and glued, then taped it to the white part of the former lamp.

   Then pried off the bottom part of the switch housing and removed the old cord and replaced it with the new cord. If you see the finished project, notice what was missed and had to re-done - forgot to put the straw, the metal tubing that holds the wire, the wooden piece and the plastic piece on before writing it to the lamp.

   It had to be taken apart, have all of the above put on first, then re-wired (this is the cord upside down):

   Next, the glass was filled with the black stones and hand painted the raised lettering on the Coke glass red so it would stand out more:

   Next decided to paint the wooden part red (sorry, no pic), put the cord in the glass:

   Next, filled the top of the glass with clear star stones to simulate ice cubes.
   
   I then started to work on making the lampshade. I first had to get it away from my son as it was using as a goofy hat:

    I cut the T-shirst coke insignia (centering the insignia) out so it was wide enough to cover the lampshade at the widest section:

    I then turned the bottom edges under 5/8 of an inch, then stitched red plastic cording from my stash to use as a drawstring on the lampshade, then put it on the shade and drew up the strings and ties them in bows at the bottom and top, but tucked in the strings at the bottom.
    
    

12. 

    

    I then painted the bottom part of the original lamp red, then used glue to glue the glass down.
    
    As the stones are still loose, will probably find some type of glue to secure them, but my son is happy with it and it looks great on his desk.
